The Rossony District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection reminds you: burning grass is a crime against nature!

Burning dry vegetation destroys meadow grass seeds and beneficial microflora, while ash washed away by rain provides only a short-lived illusion of fertilization, leaving the soil depleted. Burning leads to irreversible degradation of the topsoil and the replacement of valuable diverse grasses with weeds. Bird nests, young hares, hedgehogs, and pollinating insects perish in the grass.

Dry grass burns rapidly, uncontrollably spreading to forest belts and buildings, turning an uncontrolled burn into a landscape fire.

According to Article 16.40 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses, illegal burning of vegetation, standing grass, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues in fields, or failure to take measures to extinguish fires on land plots, shall incur a fine ranging from 10 to 30 base units.
