Pruning of trees and shrubs
Pruning of trees and shrubs, including in populated areas, is carried out to prevent harm to the life and health of citizens, property of citizens and legal entities, eliminate obstacles to the operation of buildings, structures and other objects, as well as to enhance the aesthetic appeal of trees and shrubs.
Pruning of trees and shrubs growing on public lands of populated areas, as well as for the purpose of enhancing their aesthetic appeal, is carried out by a landscaping specialist within the scope of maintaining green spaces or under a civil law contract.
Three types of pruning are performed on trees and shrubs (sanitary, shaping, and rejuvenating). The procedure and specifics of pruning are determined by a specialist of appropriate qualification in the field of landscaping.
Pruning of trees and shrubs is carried out from October to April, with the exception of sanitary pruning, which is performed year-round.
Sanitary pruning involves the removal of dry, old, diseased, damaged, and intertwined shoots and branches, etc.
Shaping pruning is carried out to preserve the natural shape of trees and shrubs or to give the crown a desired shape (spherical, conical, cylindrical, or other). Shaping pruning of trees and shrubs is carried out from November to April; shape correction of trees and shrubs is also permissible during the summer period.
Rejuvenating pruning of trees and shrubs is carried out to increase the lifespan of plants by partially or completely removing branches of the old crown. It is performed only on species with good shoot-forming ability (linden, poplar, willow). Rejuvenating pruning of trees is carried out gradually over 2-3 years, starting from the top of the main branches, and is performed during the dormant period after leaf fall (before sap flow begins), from October to April.
