Commercial fishing of migratory eel

By the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection dated March 18, 2026 No. 6, the places and conditions for commercial fishing of migratory eels without observing the commercial size limit in fishing grounds in 2026 have been determined.

In particular, the following have been established:

• a list of watercourses where commercial fishing of migratory eels without observing the commercial size limit is carried out using stationary traps;
• a list of water bodies within a radius of no more than 250 m from the mouths, sources of watercourses, or connections with other water bodies, where commercial fishing of migratory eels without observing the commercial size limit is carried out using portable traps with a mesh size of at least 16 mm;
• a list of watercourses and other places where commercial fishing of migratory eels without observing the commercial size limit is carried out using portable traps with a mesh size of at least 16 mm.

It has been determined that commercial fishing of migratory eels without observing the commercial size limit is carried out:

• in the Minsk Region - from April 1 to May 30, 2026;
• in the Vitebsk Region - from April 10 to June 8, 2026.

The Resolution entered into force on March 22, 2026.
