The burning of dry vegetation (dry wild plants) and its stubble is prohibited
In accordance with Article 20 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Flora," the burning of dry vegetation (dry wild plants) and its stubble is prohibited.
In accordance with fire safety regulations in forests, from the moment snow cover melts until stable rainy weather sets in, it is prohibited to:
* Make fires in young coniferous forests, in areas of damaged forest (windfall and breakage), peat bogs, and in places with dried grass;
* Burn grass and make fires in grass, and leave a burning fire unattended;
* Leave unextinguished sources of ignition and smoldering (burning matches, cigarette butts, etc.).
Making fires (including using devices such as braziers, barbecues, grills, gas stoves, etc.) is permitted in designated areas, bordered by a mineralized (cleared to the mineral soil layer) strip at least 0.25 m wide, as well as in places that prevent fire damage to the crowns, trunks, and root systems of growing trees, except for prohibited areas. Once no longer needed, the fire must be extinguished until completely smoldered out.
If you notice a fire, do not pass by. You can extinguish burning grass yourself. If you smell smoke, approach and determine what is burning. Douse the fire with water from a nearby body of water or cover it with earth.
After extinguishing the fire, do not leave until you are sure that the fire will not reignite. If it is impossible to extinguish the fire on your own, move to a safe place and immediately notify the Ministry of Emergency Situations units or officials of the state forest protection service.
LIABILITY FOR BURNING DRY VEGETATION
In accordance with Article 16.40 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses:
* Illegal burning of dry vegetation, grass stubble, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues in fields, or failure to take measures to extinguish fires on land plots, shall result in administrative liability in the form of a fine ranging from ten to thirty base units.
