With the arrival of warm weather, cases of grass fires have become more frequent. In an attempt to clear their plots and "improve" their lawns in this way, homeowners often cause irreparable damage not only to their own property but also to nature.

For wildlife, fires are a real ecological disaster. Statistics show that the vast majority of grass fire incidents are caused by human negligence, with only 5-10% due to meteorological conditions.

As a result of burning, vegetation cover degrades, its species composition and plant associations become impoverished. Instead of the flowering diversity of meadows, harsh grass vegetation and weeds of wastelands appear.

With the destruction of plant residues, the supply of organic matter to the soil ceases, the amount of humus sharply decreases, the soil loses its ability to retain moisture, and its destruction-erosion begins.

The Rossonskaya District Inspectorate reminds you! In accordance with Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of April 11, 2022 No. 219, the illegal burning of dry vegetation, standing grass, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues is an act of causing harm to the environment.

The Rossonskaya District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is carrying out measures to identify cases of burning dry vegetation and post-harvest residues and to bring guilty persons to administrative responsibility: Article 16.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus - violation of fire safety requirements in forests or peatlands; Article 16.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus - illegal burning of dry vegetation, standing grass, as well as stubble and post-harvest residues in fields, or failure to take measures to extinguish fires; Article 16.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus - lighting fires in prohibited places.
