Berry and mushroom picking in the forests of Belarus in 2026 is regulated by strict standards. Violation of established rules entails significant fines, the amount of which is tied to a base value (BV) of 45 rubles, making the maximum fine for illegal harvesting for citizens now reach 900 rubles (up to 20 BVs).

Main rules before going into the forest!!!

Before heading out for forest gifts, you must ensure there are no local restrictions:

Map of prohibitions: Be sure to check the interactive map on the official website of the Ministry of Forestry. During the fire hazard period, forest visits may be partially restricted or completely prohibited. For being in a forest closed to visitors, a fine of up to 12 BVs (up to 540 rubles) is imposed.

Territorial restrictions: It is strictly forbidden to collect any wild plants in nature reserves, national parks, sanctuaries, as well as in protected areas for rare animal and plant species.

Calendar dates: The dates for collecting lingonberries and cranberries are approved by regional executive committees on an individual basis as the crop ripens.

Premature picking is considered an offense.

In Belarus, the use of special manual devices (so-called "harvesters" or "scoops") for picking blueberries, bilberries, lingonberries, and cranberries is officially permitted. However, the tool must strictly comply with technical requirements.

Red Book species: For picking mushrooms listed in the Red Book of Belarus, a separate severe penalty is provided – a fine from 20 to 30 base values (from 900 to 1350 rubles).

Violation of mushroom picking technology or damage to the forest floor also incurs a fine of up to 900 rubles.
