Comply with the requirements for juice harvesting and collection

Birch sap remains one of nature's generous gifts. However, it is important to show gratitude to nature rather than harm the tree. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to properly collect birch sap.

The Rossonsky District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus reminds about the need to comply with the requirements for harvesting and collecting sap, established by legislation.

The harvesting of birch sap and other natural resources is strictly regulated by the Forest Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Law "On the Plant World," as well as by resolutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus.

The harvesting of tree sap for personal use may be carried out by citizens under the right of general use of plant world objects in accordance with Article 40 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the Plant World."

The harvesting of tree sap by citizens is carried out in forest fund areas designated for these purposes by legal entities engaged in forestry, and their structural divisions (forestries). Information about the location of such forest fund areas is brought to the general public by legal entities engaged in forestry by posting it on their official websites on the global computer network Internet, in mass media, or by any other publicly accessible means.

When harvesting birch sap, it is important to adhere to the technology and rules of sap harvesting.

We draw your attention to the fact that there are territories where the harvesting of tree sap is prohibited:

1. in populated areas;

2. in dendrological parks, botanical gardens;

3. in protected habitats of wild animals and wild-growing plants, included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus, as established by order;

4. within the boundaries of protection zones of immovable material historical and cultural values;

5. in resorts and healthcare organizations, within the sanitary protection zones of resorts;

6. in places of mass public recreation;

7. in the coastal strips of water bodies;

8. within the right-of-way of railways and roads, and other transport communications.

To prevent violations, we strongly recommend clarifying information on permitted sap harvesting locations with the forestry enterprises and forestries at your place of residence.

Fines for illegal sap collection according to Article 16.19 of the Code of Administrative Offences:

for an individual - a fine of up to 20 base units, for an individual entrepreneur - up to 100 base units, for a legal entity - up to 500 base units.
