Stole it – you deserve it: now work and pay!

The prosecutor of the Rossony district has submitted a criminal case to the court for substantive consideration on charges of theft and supported the state prosecution in this case.

As part of the preliminary investigation into the case, it was established that a 39-year-old local resident, not engaged in any socially useful activity, unmarried, and with no prior convictions, in August 2025, with the assistance of another person unaware of his criminal intentions, who helped carry the stolen items, stole two homemade metal pipe heating radiators belonging to the victim, located near the victim's house, with a total value of 300 Belarusian rubles. He then fled the scene of the crime and disposed of the property as he saw fit by selling it.

During the preliminary investigation and in the court hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt in the committed crime and repented of his actions. These circumstances were taken into account by the court and recognized as mitigating factors, while aggravating factors were absent. The committed crime is classified as a less serious offense. The most severe punishment provided for it is imprisonment for up to four years.

The accused pledged to the court to abide by the law and lead a law-abiding life in the future. The stolen property was returned to the victim by the preliminary investigation body.

Based on the results of the case review, the court was guided by the state prosecutor towards convicting the accused and imposing a sentence of 300 hours of community service, applying compulsory security measures and treatment for chronic alcoholism at his place of residence. Additionally, 200 Belarusian rubles were recovered from the accused in favor of the victim as compensation for moral damages, and a state duty of 126 rubles was collected in favor of the state.

The court's verdict has not been appealed or protested and has entered into legal force.
