May 15, 2024, marks the International Day of Families.
On September 20, 1993, with the aim of drawing the attention of the general public to the problems of the family, the UN General Assembly, by its resolution, designated May 15 as the International Day of Families.
The family is the greatest value in the life of every person. It is within the family that a person's life begins, and it is here that their formation as a citizen and individual takes place. The family, as the basic element of society, has been and remains the custodian of human values, culture, and the historical continuity of generations, a factor of stability and development. Thanks to the family, the state strengthens and develops, and the well-being of the people grows. At all times, the development of a country has been judged by the position of the family in society and the state's attitude towards it. Ancient wisdom states: "The state is a large family, and the family is a small state, and it is held together by love."
The family is a source of love, respect, solidarity, and affection, the foundation upon which any civilized society is built, and without which a person cannot exist. It is very important for the family to be strong. In the family, a child learns to grasp the secrets of human interaction, learns love and care. Through the family, wisdom and knowledge are passed down from one generation to another.
On this holiday, various educational, public, and festive events are held, including concerts; meetings with married couples with extensive family life experience; charity events for foster families with children and for children from large and low-income families; newspaper publications dedicated to family themes; and sports events.
The Day of Families in our time is an excellent opportunity to gather together for a family dinner and discuss ways for the whole family to help those in need and contribute to the fight for peace worldwide.
Meet with lonely acquaintances or, say, neighbors and share a piece of family warmth with them. You can also do good deeds on this day, for example, share food or items with the poor and disadvantaged. It is also good on the Day of Families to remember relatives and acquaintances who are far away and communicate with them.

10 Secrets of a Strong Family:
For a family to be strong and harmonious, it is necessary to:
1. Show your love, do not hide your feelings.
A partner always enjoys hearing that they are loved. And even if love seems obvious to you, do not be lazy to say it more often. Back up your words with actions.
Love cannot be bought with expensive gifts, and therefore it is not necessary to buy expensive gifts often. It is enough to occasionally leave a romantic note on the table or a flower in a prominent place. Tender touches and a fleeting smile will also add warmth to your family nest. The main thing is to understand that people are loved not for specific actions, but simply for who they are.
2. Eat meals together as a family whenever possible.
A shared meal is a great opportunity to feel support and understanding, and to discuss pressing issues. Even if an extremely unpleasant situation is discussed at dinner, family members remain confident that they can overcome difficult times together.
3. Family traditions are essential.
Every strong family has several family traditions. These can be simple family meals on weekends, playing dominoes together, going fishing, etc. Any action that is undertaken by the whole family over a long period of time becomes a family tradition. Choose what all family members like. Family traditions make your family unique and give household members a sense of stability, reliability, and confidence in the future.
4. Communication - environment.
According to research, children who communicate frequently with adults other than their parents feel more confident and happier. By hosting guests, you will feel like a team.
5. Household chores together.
By fairly dividing household chores among all family members, you foster an atmosphere of mutual teamwork. Each family member is responsible for fulfilling their duties. A common cause unites, fostering team spirit and mutual respect.
6. Share your family's history.
It is very important to tell children about your childhood and about how other family members were when they were young. This allows children to better understand their parents.
Share memories of your childhood and information about previous generations of your family with your partner. Such knowledge will help you better understand your partner and better comprehend the reasons for their actions.
7. Get a pet.
Pets and birds are loyal companions that can improve your mood. They will surround your household members with affection and love. Furthermore, caring for our smaller brethren will help instill a sense of importance and responsibility in children.
8. Respect other family members as individuals.
A family consists of several individuals living under one roof. Each person has their own character, their own flaws and strengths. Under no circumstances should you try to change your partner's character. Accept all family members as they are. Support each other, listen, and compromise.
9. Be punctual.
It is very important for every family member to feel valued. Punctuality gives a sense of confidence in your partner, confidence that they will never be let down and can be relied upon.
