Smoking. Oncological diseases
November 21, 2024 - World No Tobacco Day is observed. The purpose of World No Tobacco Day is to raise public awareness of the harmful consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke, which lead to addiction and a range of serious diseases, and to prevent cancer.
Smoking is one of the most common and dangerous causes of malignant diseases. Scientists have proven the link between smoking and 12 forms of cancer: lung, esophagus, larynx and oral cavity, bladder, pancreas, kidney, stomach, breast, cervix, etc. Such diverse effects are due to the penetration of carcinogens into the blood and their spread throughout the body. In addition to the high risk of developing various forms of malignant neoplasms, continued smoking negatively affects the special treatment for oncological diseases. It has been established that for these patients, compared to non-smokers, life expectancy is reduced, the risk of recurrence or development of a second tumor increases, and the effectiveness of treatment and quality of life decreases. Quitting smoking guarantees a 30% reduction in cancer incidence.
CANCER PREVENTION
caused by smoking
1. Smokers must come to a conscious desire to quit smoking themselves. If you smoke, you have problems with tobacco smoking and cannot cope with this harmful habit on your own, you should contact the narcological office at your place of residence, where you can receive professional help in combating this addiction.
2. Do not smoke in the presence of non-smokers. Your smoking is "passive smoking" for people around you and can have an adverse effect on their health.
3. If a person's work is related to hazardous industries, be sure to use personal protective equipment: respirators, special clothing.
4. Be sure to undergo a medical examination.
5. Lead a healthy lifestyle.
Be healthy! Take care of yourself and your loved ones!
