Всемирный день борьбы с псориазом

World Psoriasis Day

October 29, 2025 - World Psoriasis Day.

Psoriasis is a non-infectious disease that manifests as chronic skin inflammation. A characteristic sign of psoriasis is the appearance of coin-sized, red, scaly papules clearly demarcated from healthy skin, with lesions predominantly located on the skin of the elbows and knees, hands, feet, and scalp. Symptoms include itching, irritation, burning, and pain. In rare cases, the entire skin surface may be affected; in this particularly severe form, psoriasis can be fatal, as acute inflammation and skin peeling can disrupt its thermoregulatory and barrier functions. Changes in nail plates, such as pitting, thickening, or detachment, may also occur. Some patients develop psoriatic arthritis, which causes joint pain, stiffness, and limited mobility. In rare cases, the disease can affect other organs, such as the eyes or kidneys. Psoriasis is often hereditary. The disease is associated with abnormal immune system activity, specifically, immune cells begin to attack the body's own tissues.

Psoriasis is not transmitted from person to person; it is not an infectious disease.

Psoriasis Prevention

1.Avoid stress. Stressful situations can trigger psoriasis flare-ups.

2. Normalize your diet. Eliminate fried, salty, and fatty foods from your diet. Add more vegetables, fruits, berries, and nuts. Therapeutic cleansing and fasting are not recommended unless prescribed by a doctor.

3. Give up bad habits. Smoking and alcohol consumption exacerbate symptoms.

4. Maintain a routine. Normalize your sleep-wake cycle and avoid excessive physical exertion.

5. Protect your skin. Prevent mechanical damage, sunburn, and frostbite. Limit tanning; excessive sun exposure can be harmful.

6. Wear appropriate clothing. Choose loose-fitting clothing made from natural materials (cotton, linen) to avoid skin chafing and damage. Limit contact with wool; do not wear woolen items directly against the skin.

7. Avoid allergens. Limit the use of down and feather pillows, use hypoallergenic bedding.

8. Monitor your health. Do not let any infectious diseases progress.
