Unified Safety Day: Working Proactively and Reviewing Safety Rules with the Ministry of Emergency Situations

On September 21, a Unified Safety Day will be held in every region of Vitebsk Oblast. Under the auspices of this event, practical drills of evacuation plans will be organized in educational institutions, enterprises, and organizations. How and where to move correctly, which signs to follow to stay alive during a fire and other emergencies, how to properly use primary fire extinguishing equipment and provide first aid – every resident of the region will be able to learn not only in theory but also in practice.

It is time to prepare in advance and review the basic safety rules with the specialists in this field.
Let's address the first question: What is an evacuation plan and why is it needed?

An evacuation plan is a document that indicates evacuation routes and exits, establishes rules of conduct for people, and defines the order and sequence of actions for the facility's personnel in case of a fire. It is usually placed near exits, staircases, and elevator landings. A separate plan is created for each floor.

As we can see, there are special pictograms on the plan. Let's analyze them:

"You are here!". This little black figure represents you. There is no time to discuss racism! Be brave and plan your escape based on this point on the plan.

 

Main evacuation route. We emphasize that it is not mandatory to always turn left: there are other interpretations of the sign.

Telephone. Of course, if you have a choice between calling and running out of the building, choose the latter. But if you are in relative safety, you can use a landline phone. However, we have little faith that you haven't acquired a mobile phone by now, but it's better to be safe, isn't it?

Fire extinguisher. Our universal advice: if the flame is smaller than a football, extinguish it. If it's larger, trust the professionals.

Manual call point. The very coveted button, thanks to which some skipped classes and then were sad for a long time in the principal's office. As a rule, it is protected by a cover – so that there is a reason to think: "Maybe it's still not worth it?"

Fire hydrant. We could have excluded this pictogram from our selection because it is important for rescuers, but it was still worth explaining.
