From March 8 to 12, the Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold a special preventive event "House without fire" in the Rossony region.

"House Without Fire" is the name of a special preventive event by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to be held in the Rossony District from March 8 to 12.

Its goal is to reduce the risks of fires in residential buildings and fatalities caused by them, and to improve the life safety culture among the population.

In the Rossony District, 3 fires have occurred in the elapsed period of 2025, which is one case less than in the same period last year; however, two people died in fires.

The tragedy that claimed the lives of two men occurred on February 26 in the agro-town of Krasnopolye. The unemployed men, the owner of a private house and his acquaintance, became victims of their own carelessness – negligence while smoking, with both men having been drinking alcohol beforehand.

Over the past three years, 33 fires have occurred in the Rossony District, resulting in 8 fatalities. The majority of fires, 16 cases and 6 fatalities, occurred in rural areas and were recorded in the Krasnopolye, Sokolishenskoye, and Yankovichskoye rural councils. Slightly fewer, 10 fires and two fatalities, occurred in the urban settlement of Rossony. This is why the special preventive event will take place in the settlements of these rural councils and in the urban settlement itself.

Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk region has recorded an increase in fires by three cases (175 in 2024, 178 in 2025). 20 people have died in fires, which is 7 cases (+53%) more than in 2024.

The event will cover households of categorized citizens: single and lonely elderly people, disabled individuals, large families, families with children in socially dangerous situations, as well as households of citizens leading an antisocial lifestyle.

Among the main tasks of the special preventive event, rescuers highlight: informing the public about the state of fire safety, explaining to citizens the consequences of non-compliance with fire safety rules, and assessing the fire safety status of residential properties.
