From May 27 to 31, the Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold a special preventive event "House without fire" in the Rossony region.

 "House Without Fire" is the name of a special preventive event by the Ministry of Emergency Situations to be held in the Rossony District from May 27 to May 31.

Its goal is to reduce the risks of fires in residential buildings and fatalities from them, and to improve the life safety culture among the population.

In the Rossony District, 9 fires have occurred in the elapsed period of 2025, which is five more cases than in the same period last year; two people died in the fires.

A tragedy that claimed the lives of two men occurred on February 26 in the agro-town of Krasnopolye. Unemployed men, the owner of a private house and his acquaintance, became victims of their own carelessness – smoking-related negligence; both men were intoxicated.

Over the past three years, 33 fires have occurred in the Rossony District, resulting in 8 fatalities. The majority of fires, 16 cases and 6 fatalities, occurred in rural areas and were recorded in the Krasnopolye, Sokolishenskoye, and Yankovichskoye rural Soviets. Slightly fewer, 10 fires and two fatalities, occurred in the urban-type settlement of Rossony. This is precisely why the special preventive event will take place in the settlements of these rural Soviets and in the urban-type settlement itself.

Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk region has recorded an increase in fires by sixty-one cases (347 in 2024, 408 in 2025). 39 people have died in fires – this is 10 cases (+34.5%) more than in 2024.

The inspections will cover households of categorized citizens: single and lonely elderly people, disabled persons, large families, families with children in a socially dangerous situation, as well as households of citizens leading an antisocial lifestyle.

Among the main tasks of the special preventive event, rescuers highlight: informing the public about the state of fire safety, explaining to citizens the consequences of non-compliance with fire safety rules, and assessing the fire safety status of residential buildings.
