Attention! Large-scale information campaign of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

Due to the deteriorating operational situation with civilian deaths in fires, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will organize a large-scale information campaign among the public from 24.11.2025 to 14.12.2025 on the effectiveness of using autonomous fire alarms, the necessity of their installation and timely maintenance.

Why is an autonomous fire alarm needed?

A dismissive attitude towards autonomous fire alarms can still sometimes be heard from our citizens. Although statistics record an increasing number of cases where an autonomous fire alarm timely warns of danger and thus saves from disaster.

Statistics show that more than 50% of fatal fires occur precisely when a person is asleep. In sleep, they do not feel the smell of smoke and are therefore most vulnerable. It is possible to detect a fire in a timely manner and thereby prevent a fire, loss of life, and property damage by installing an autonomous fire alarm (hereinafter referred to as AFI) in the apartment. Thanks to this small, inexpensive device, the lives of more than 20 people, including children, are saved annually.

The AFI is installed on a horizontal ceiling surface at a distance of at least one meter from light fixtures and 0.5 meters from the wall. The installation of the alarm does not require special knowledge or skills. A detailed instruction manual is included with it, containing all the necessary information on installation, design, and operating rules. The device does not spoil the interior at all; its mounting plate is fixed to the ceiling with screws, and the AFI itself is installed into it by turning clockwise until it stops.

For dismantling, it is sufficient to turn the device counterclockwise. The alarm is powered by a single "Krona" battery. It is recommended to clean the fire alarm from dust with a vacuum cleaner once a year and check its operability monthly by pressing the test button.

A flashing red LED signal located on the AFI housing indicates its serviceability and standby mode. When smoke is detected, the AFI emits an intermittent audible signal with a constant red LED illumination. To stop the audible signal of the alarm, the source of smoke must be eliminated and the room ventilated.
