From May 19 to 24, the Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold a special preventive event "House without fire" in the Rossony region.

"House Without Fire" is the name of a special preventive event to be held by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Rossony district from May 19 to May 24.

Its goal is to reduce the risks of fires in residential buildings and the number of fire-related deaths, and to improve the population's life safety culture.

In the Rossony district, 6 fires occurred during the past period of 2026, resulting in two deaths.

The tragedies that claimed the lives of two men occurred on February 12 in the village of Kulnevo and on February 17 in the village of Velikoye Boloto. The men became victims of their own carelessness – negligence while smoking. It is presumed they were intoxicated.

Since 2023, 44 fires have occurred in the Rossony district, with 7 fatalities. The majority of fires, namely 34 cases, and 6 fatalities, occurred in rural areas and were recorded in the Klyastitskoye, Krasnopolskoye, Sokolishenskoye, and Yankovichskoye rural councils. 10 fires and one fatality occurred in the urban settlement of Rossony. Therefore, the special preventive event will be held in the settlements of these rural executive committees and in the urban settlement itself.

Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk region has recorded an increase in fires by fifty-five cases (383 in 2025, 438 in 2026). 46 people died in fires – this is 14 cases (+43.8%) more than in 2025.

The inspections will cover households of categorized citizens: single and lonely elderly people, disabled persons and large families, families with children in a socially dangerous situation, as well as households of citizens leading an antisocial lifestyle.

Among the main tasks of the special preventive event, rescuers highlight: informing the public about the state of fire safety, explaining to citizens the consequences of non-compliance with fire safety rules, and studying the state of fire safety of residential buildings.
