Tragedy strikes again. Three people died in a fire in the Braslav district
The night's silence was broken by the sirens of a fire engine in the Braslav district.
On July 23, at 02:11, rescuers received a report of a house fire in the village of Mateshi, Akhremovtsy rural council.
Emergency services units immediately proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, the entire house was engulfed in flames.
During the reconnaissance of one of the rooms in the burning house, rescuers found a charred body of a man, born in 1997, on the floor under a layer of collapsed roof structures and ceiling. Later, the lifeless body of another man, born in 1991, was discovered, and after some time, the body of a woman, born in 1994, without signs of life.
The owner, born in 1968, resides in the agro-town of Akhremovtsy, Braslav district, and inherited the property this year.
As it became clear from the circumstances of the investigation, the day before the tragedy, the owner's relatives (son, nephew with his civil wife, and another nephew) arrived for a holiday and settled in the uninhabited house. The young people decided to relax, and drinking alcohol was part of their stay, and everyone in the company smoked. On the fateful day, closer to noon, the young people went to the cemetery to visit their grandfather, after which they went to a neighbor's bathhouse and continued to consume alcoholic beverages. Around midnight, one of the men stayed overnight with the neighbor, while three returned to their previous lodging.
The roof and ceiling of the house were destroyed by fire, and the walls were damaged.
The cause of the fire is being established. The presumed version is careless handling of fire while smoking by one of the deceased.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: carelessness while smoking is one of the main causes of fires. Do not put yourself and those around you in danger. Give up the harmful habit – do not smoke in bed.
