A pensioner suffered burns in a fire

On October 14, at 11:50 AM, rescuers received a report from an ambulance dispatcher stating that a woman had sustained burns in a fire on Kolkhoznaya Street in the urban settlement of Rossony.

The events of that day unfolded as follows: around 9:20 AM, neighbors discovered smoke in the house. They then entered the house and found a woman lying on the floor under a blanket, with a burning bed nearby. The residents then extinguished the fire themselves and left. Shortly thereafter, another neighbor arrived and called for an ambulance, having noticed that the woman had sustained burns.

The victim, born in 1963, is a pensioner. She was hospitalized with thermal burns of the lower extremities and perineum, degree 2-3, with signs of alcohol intoxication, at the Polotsk Central City Hospital. Her condition is serious.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The considered version for the cause of the fire is careless handling of fire while smoking.

Ministry of Emergency Situations informs:

- 90% of deaths in fires are due to careless handling of fire! Every fourth person who died in a fire was smoking in bed;

- in case of fire, call 101 or 112 immediately. Provide your name, surname, address, and the cause of the emergency, and also report if there are people in the burning premises;

- the most effective means of detecting a fire in a house or apartment is a standalone smoke detector. It reacts to the slightest concentration of smoke, emits a powerful audible alarm that can wake even a sleeping person. Install a standalone smoke detector!
