A ban on going out on the ice has been introduced in the Rossony district
The relevant decision was made by the Rossonsky District Executive Committee.
As a result of the established weather conditions, the first ice is appearing on the district's water bodies, and venturing onto it can lead to tragedy. Thus, on November 21, in the Bykhovsky district of the Mogilev region, thin ice has already claimed the life of a young man born in 1988 who decided to test the first ice. And on November 24, the 101 line received a report from a concerned citizen that children were running on the ice on one of the artificial reservoirs in the Bilevo microdistrict of Vitebsk. Rescuers were promptly dispatched to the scene. It turns out that primary school children decided to risk their lives. It is unknown whether their parents were aware of the children's "heroic courage" at that moment! Rescuers had a conversation with them about their rash and dangerous act, and also informed educational institutions to prevent tragedies, as thin ice forgives no mistakes.
During the ice formation period, rescuers and representatives of the OSOVOD will conduct patrol activities on the district's water bodies.
To avoid becoming a victim of thin ice, remember that ice on rivers, lakes, and other water bodies becomes solid only during the full formation of winter ice cover. Ice with a thickness of at least 7 cm is considered safe. However, even in winter, there are plenty of dangerous places for skating and crossing. These include: ice holes formed by fast river currents, underground springs emerging to the surface, and warm water discharges from industrial enterprises, ice openings, fishing holes, and places where ice is chipped.
Before stepping onto the ice, check the area where the ice meets the shore – there may be ice holes or snowdrifts covering them. At river mouths, the ice strength is weakened due to currents.
Before starting and during movement on the ice, check its strength with improvised means (a pole, ski pole, etc.), and under no circumstances stomp on the ice with your feet. Remember that you can only go on the ice wearing a life jacket. Do not engage in careless actions, take care of yourself and your life.
