Dangerous hobby: rescuers urge to refrain from going out on the ice
On January 9, at 11:39 AM, the body of a drowned fisherman was discovered on Lake Karavaino, near the village of Ryabchenki, Polotsk District.
According to relatives, the man, born in 1965, went fishing on the morning of January 8. He did not make contact in the evening. In the morning, relatives found the car the man had used to go to the lake on the shore, and his belongings were located 6-7 meters from the shore on the ice.
Rescuers who arrived at the scene found the fisherman's body in an ice hole near his belongings. The ice thickness at the scene is approximately 3 cm.
The circumstances of the incident are being established by investigative authorities.
Since the beginning of 2025, 3 people have already drowned in the Vitebsk region!
REMINDER:
- Ice with a thickness of at least 7 cm is considered safe;
- The strength of ice can be determined by its color: blue - strong, white - half as strong, gray, opaque white, or with a yellowish tint - unreliable;
- A life jacket must be worn MANDATORILY!
