Povalishin Illarion Afanasyevich (1739-1799) – Vice-Admiral of the Russian Navy, awarded the Orders of St. George, St. Vladimir, and St. Anna, 1st Class, for commendable service and brave deeds.
Kulnev Yakov Petrovich (1763-1812) – Major General of the Russian Army, participated in the Russo-Turkish War, wars with Poland, Sweden, and France.
Azin Vladimir Martinovich (1895-1920) – participant of the Civil War, military leader. Commanded the 28th Division of the Eastern Front. Awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
Yan Borshchevsky (1794-1851) – Belarusian and Polish writer, one of the founders of new Belarusian literature. Among his most famous literary works are "Szlachcic Zavalnya, or Belarus in Fantastic Stories," "The Belt of Venus," "Psyche," and others.
Shlyubsky Alexander Anufrievich (1897-1941) – Belarusian ethnographer, folklorist, bibliographer. The scholar's creative work includes two fundamental studies: "Materials for Belarusian Bibliography" and "Materials for the Study of Folklore and Language of the Vitebsk Region."
Buravkin Gennady Nikolaevich (born 1936) – Belarusian poet, translator. Author of prose books "Three Pages from a Legend," "To You, Belarus," and screenplays for documentary and feature films.
Matusevich Nikolai Egorovich (1929-2001), Belarusian playwright, journalist. Honored Worker of Culture, author of satirical comedies "Amnesty," "Mudramer." Awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples.
Heroes of the Soviet Union and Socialist Labor
Masherov Pyotr Mironovich (1918-1980) – statesman. During the Great Patriotic War, one of the organizers and leaders of the underground and partisan movement in Belarus. From 1965 to 1980, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus. Hero of the Soviet Union and Socialist Labor.
Khomchenovsky Vladimir Antonovich (1920-1942) – participant of the Rossony underground, deputy commander for reconnaissance of the Shchors partisan detachment of the Rokossovsky brigade. On May 8, 1965, for courage and heroism in the fight against the German fascist invaders, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Shelpen Alexander Kirillovich (1918-1960) – commander of an artillery battery, fought on the Volkhov, Leningrad, and 1st Belorussian Fronts. Participant in the defense of Moscow. For bravery and valor shown during the assault on Berlin, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Zhukov Stepan Ivanovich (1923-1997) – assault pilot, during the Great Patriotic War fought on the Central and 1st Belorussian Fronts. Participant in the Battle of Kursk, the liberation of Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, and battles in Germany. For exemplary performance of combat missions, for heroism and courage, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in May 1946.
Rubis Pavel Ivanovich (1923-1996) - during the Great Patriotic War, a partisan of the Rossony Stalin brigade, from 1943 – at the front, commander of a machine-gun crew. Distinguished himself in battles during the liberation of the Vitebsk region and Latvia. Cavalier of the Orders of Glory of 3 degrees.
Goretskaya Anna Savelievna (1900-1980) - flax grower team leader. In 1949, for the high yield of long-staple flax fiber obtained, she was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor.
Khmelkova Tatyana Ivanovna (1921-2001) – pig breeder of the Rossony state farm. In 1966, for achievements in the development of animal husbandry, an increase in meat production and procurement, she was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor.
