First of all, it is the availability of forest resources. The forest cover of the district is 63%. 138.4 thousand hectares of forest fund lands are covered with forest.
The area is included in the group of valuable coniferous species promising for the organization of logging.
Stocks of mature coniferous stands are more than 1.5 million cubic meters. meters (pine - 1349.7 thousand m3, spruce - 210.8 thousand m3).

45 thousand hectares, or 29.5% of the forest fund lands are occupied by reserves of republican significance.
On the territory of the state forest fund, northern bird species (capercaillie, white-browed thrush, boreal owl) are found in large numbers, there are single nesting sites in Belarus of relic waterfowl: black-throated diver and large merganser. 10 species of birds and 18 species of wild plants are included in the Red Book.

For the prospective use of the peat and sapropel reserves available in the region as a raw material base for the needs of sanatorium-and-spa institutions (as sources of therapeutic mud), special studies are required to study the qualitative composition of peat.
The area is characterized by a fairly high level of water supply.
