Rossony district is located in the north of the Vitebsk region on an area of 1926.9 sq. km.
In the north and east it borders on the Sebezhsky and Nevelsky regions of the Pskov region of the Russian Federation, in the south and west - on the Polotsk and Verkhnedvinsky regions of the Vitebsk region.
Formed July 17, 1924.
Includes 127 settlements, 6 village councils.
The administrative center is the urban settlement of Rossony, located on the northern shore of Lake Rossono, 276 kilometers from Minsk and 150 kilometers from Vitebsk.
The population is 8,523 people (as of January 1, 2023).
The agro-industrial complex of the district is represented by the branch "Klyastitsy-Agro" of the open joint-stock company "Polotsk Dairy Plant", specializing mainly in the production of livestock products, and the agricultural unitary enterprise "Zdrava", operating in the field of pig breeding.
On the territory of the district, 8 peasant (farm) enterprises operate, which specialize mainly in meat and dairy farming, grain production.
The industry of the region is represented by:
State Forestry Institution "Rossonsky Leskhoz", which is one of the largest forestry enterprises of the Republic of Belarus in terms of the number of forest areas maintained;
Unitary enterprise of housing and communal services of the Rossonsky district, specializing in the production of heat energy exclusively on local fuels.
Branches of OJSC "Polotsk Dairy Plant" and PMC "Vitebskobldorstroy" operate in the district; production sites of JSC Novopolotskbyt, RUE Belpochta, RUE Vitebskoblgaz, JSC Vitebskoblavtotrans, RUE Vitebskenergo, State Energy and Gas Supervision State Institution, State Unitary Enterprise Vitebskoblvodokanal, RUE Vitebskavtodor, etc.
The trade area has 4.4 thousand square meters of retail space, 93 retail trade facilities of various formats, 1 market, 11 public catering facilities for 329 places (as of January 1, 2023).
